Walking Wheatfen Winter

Returning to Wheatfen Nature Reserve in the winter months, I was inspired by the quiet stillness and bare structures of the winter landscape. Walking the paths and becoming familiar with the landscape, I made connections with the slowness and movement of walking and how these are echoed in the rhythms and repetition of weaving to create quiet and meditative artworks for interiors that celebrate the beauty of the natural landscape. ‘Walking Wheatfen Winter’ was shortlisted for the Vlieseline Fine Art Textiles Award 2020.

Part of the Broads Authority’s Water Mills and Marshes: Celebrating the Landscape project, I was one of six artists commissioned to create work responding to the Broads landscape for the ‘Woven Waters’ exhibition at Norwich Cathedral Hostry.
