Exploring Structure

‘One of the biggest ailments of our society is that we’ve become blind to the value of the material we surround ourselves with’ (Franklin and Till, 2018)

A collection of experimental basketry made in response to this quote from Franklin and Till. The focus of this project was a material-led investigation using natural, biodegradable, discarded and found local materials to create 3D structures designed with the material’s end of life in mind. By celebrating the beauty of natural repurposed and found materials and combining them with a minimalist aesthetic I hope to show that ‘waste’ can be beautiful.
